  2. SYMPTOMS. In most cases there are no prior signs. In others there may be
  3. heartburn, discomfort under the breastbone (soon after eating when bending
  4. or lying down), stools darken with blood and vomiting blood.
  5. CAUSES. A weakened, enlarged diaphragm opening allows the protrusion of a
  6. small part of the stomach.
  7. TREATMENT. Eat more frequently with smaller meals. Weight reduction.
  8. .Raise head of bed. Surgery may be required.
